The International Trade Centre (ITC), one of UNFSS’s composed agencies, will be hosting its fifth Trade for Sustainable Development Forum at the ITC headquarters in Geneva from 1-3 October 2018. The T4SD Forum 2018 will be held in parallel with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Public Forum 2018.

Working in the same direction as UNFSS’s goal towards “better trade with sustainable development”, ITC launched this forum to help promote sustainable trade practices and enhance transparency in supply chains. The forum is a quintessential global event that provides a platform not only to advance the knowledge and impacts of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS), but also accessible to all value chain stakeholders in discussing approaches to improve sustainability while better connecting developing countries’ SMEs to international buyers.

This year, the Forum explores the theme of SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production” and its relationship with sustainable trade in global value chains. UNFSS will also be presenting the forthcoming launch of the 3rd Flagship on ‘Voluntary Sustainability Standards, Trade and Sustainable Development’ in light of the concept surrounding green global value chains.

The panel sessions will be held at ITC headquarters on the 1st, followed by the ‘Partners Day’ and “T4SD Open House” at ITC on the 2nd and closing with the with High-level panel at WTO headquarters on 3 October 2018.
